anxiety’s chorus

Sometimes I feel it begin in my fingertips,

But then following its own crescendo,

It seeks more room in my chest and my gut,

Commencing like the familiar butterflies,

But transgressing  into chaos, rampant and demanding attention,

As if struggling to escape the skin

That is already weakening within ;

Its fluttering tickles and aches,

And my breaths respond involuntarily,

Now heavier, quickened,

But still lagging behind its accelerando and short spicattos

  1. Good morning, Adam – I wanted to pop in and say hello. I believe anxiety hits all of us once and a while and then for others, it’s a constant companion. I have faith that you are a survivor due to your introspective writing. I’m continually impressed with your insight into your own thoughts. Keep up the good work. You’ve got what it takes.
